Escape the high-rises and shopping malls on your next trip to Singapore and pin these pristine and serene beaches for an idyllic holiday.
Tanjong Beach
If all you want to do is unwind and return with a sun kissed glow, then get your mat and find a spot on Tanjong Beach. This is the quietest of the three beaches on the island resort of Sentosa, which is located off Singapore’s southern coast. With crystal clear water, a sheltered bay along its crescent shaped beach line and a constant cool breeze, this beach spot is a great option for travellers who want to get away from the crowds and activity and seek solitude. Kiosks for drinks and snacks line the sidewalk and those looking for some sport can take advantage of the volleyball court, and surfboards and kayaks for hire. But you can also spend an entire day here with your family swimming, sunbathing, reading and making sand castles.
Punggol Beach
Putting aside its troubled past as a site of the Sook Ching Massacre in 1942, this beach is a photographer’s paradise. The beach in Northern Singapore has a unique scenery with artfully placed boulders along the soft sands. This lesser-know gem is connected to the main city by MRT shuttle and bus The beach is surrounded by several other attractions with something for the entire family can look forward to. Enjoy a sunrise run or jog on the Punggol Promenade or get together with friends for some laser tag or fishing at the Punggol Jetty. The Punggol Point Park with its Lily Ponds is also a perfect picnic spot.
Lazarus Island
Live it up and cruise to the Lazarus Island on a yacht for a laidback day with the family. The Island, also known as Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, is to the south of the main island of Singapore and perhaps one of its best kept secrets. It is also connected by a paved bridge to the St. Johns Island. A great island getaway, you can opt for a relaxing sunbathing, beach strolling and swimming trip or get active with kayaking, fishing and even kite-flying in the cool sea breeze.
