A new era of Saudi Arabia's aviation history began when Riyadh Air was launched. Riyadh first became a civil aviation base when the first king and the founder of Saudi Arabia flew from Riyadh to Taif.

Riyadh Air is the second flag carrier of Saudi Arabia and was established in March 2023. Its main operational hub is the King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh. The airline will be owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The governor of PIF serves as the chairman of Riyadh International Airlines. The colour of the aircraft is inspired by the lavender blossoms of Saudi Arabia and symbolises the country’s generosity and authentic hospitality.
