Kuwait Airways is the flag carrier of Kuwait and is headquartered at Kuwait International Airport. It was founded in 1953 by a group of Kuwaiti businessmen and started operation in 1954. The airline was acquired by the Government of Kuwait with a 50% stake which later increased to 100% shareholding.

The airline is now completely owned by the Government of Kuwait. It is one of the oldest airlines in Kuwait. The airline flies to 34 international destinations across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and North America. The airline aims to become a link between the Eastern and Western regions for business and leisure travel. The services offered by the airline meet international standards and at the same time showcase the country’s traditions. 

The airline has an alliance with Trans World Airlines to keep up with the demand. The airline is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organisation.

Kuwait Airways Connectivity and Fleet Information

The airline’s fleet consists of 17 aircraft which include 3 A320-200s, 3 A310-300s, 5 A300-605Rs, 4 A340-300s and 2 Boeing B777s. This was the airline’s fleet in 1998. Between 2014 and 2020  the airline received 30 more aircraft. The new aircraft are 5 Airbus A330-200s, 7 Airbus A320-200 CEO's, 10 Boeing B777-300ERs, 6 A320neos and 2 A330-800neo. The new narrow-body aircraft A320neo and A330-800nes are fuel efficient and eco-friendly. The Airbus A330-200 is a wide-body aircraft with 212 seats split into two cabins and two aisles. The new Boeing B777-300ER is the flagship aircraft of the fleet with the world’s largest and most powerful engine. In this aircraft, the different classes of travel offered are the Royal class, Business class, Premium Economy and Economy.

Kuwait Airways Class of Travel

Kuwait Airways offers three classes of travel on all flights. The services offered depend on the type of Kuwait Airways flight booking. The different travel classes are as follows:

Economy Class

This class offers comfortable seats with more space between the seats. Thus providing more comfort during the flight.

• In-flight entertainment system that offers unlimited Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic movies and audio. 

• Passengers can pre-book preferred meals while booking tickets.

• All passengers are provided with a blanket and a pillow on the flight. 

Business Class

This class offers comfortable seats with a lie-flat option which offers total comfort during the flight.

• In-flight entertainment system offers unlimited audio and movies (Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic). Headsets are provided for viewing movies.

• Passengers are provided with sleeping blinds along with blankets. Preferred Kuwaiti-style meals can be pre-booked.

• Passengers can access the business lounge.

Royal & First Class 

This class offers enclosed suites with fully reclinable seats that provide a high level of luxury and privacy. 

• Passengers can pre-book meals from a variety of global cuisines.

• In-flight entertainment system offers unlimited movies and audio.

• Passengers from London airport are offered Limousine service. 

• Passengers are provided with blankets. Access to the airport lounge.

Kuwait Airways Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance for Economy class and V & T fare type is 1 piece of 32 kg and for all fares except V & T is 2 pieces of 23 kg each. For both a handbag of up to 7 kg is allowed. 

For Business Class, the checked-in baggage allowance is 2 pieces of 32 kg each and a handbag weighing not more than 11 kg. 

For Royal and First Class, the checked-in baggage allowance is 3 pieces of 32 kg each and a handbag weighing not more than 11 kg.

Passengers can check in online or at the airport counter. The rules are as follows:

Check-in Kuwait Airways Domestic Flights

Passengers can check in online 24 hours to 3 hours before the scheduled flight departure. Passengers can select/change seats and get check-in information by email. The e-receipt can be printed and has to be presented at the airport to get the boarding pass. For select airports online boarding passes are allowed.

Check-in Kuwait Airways International Flights

Passengers can check in online 24 hours to 3 hours before flight departure. Passengers can check in using the airline’s website or the app. Passengers can save and print the e-receipt to be presented at the airport to collect the boarding pass. For select airports, passengers can download and print the boarding pass or send it to an email.

Kuwait Airways In-flight Services

Passengers can watch movies and programs or play games or listen to the audio provided by the airline’s one of the best in the world in-flight entertainment systems. Kuwait Airlines offers a selection of standard meals and Kuwaiti-style meals which can be pre-booked. Special meals are also offered on the basis of religion or health reasons. 

Kuwait Airways Frequent Flyer Programme: Oasis Club

The airline offers a Frequent Flyer program called ‘Oasis Club’. Passengers can earn miles on all Kuwait Airways flights but not on codeshare flights unless otherwise stated. Individuals above the age of 2 years are eligible to become members. Only one person can enroll in one account. Miles can be redeemed on all routes via the airline and Oasis Club partners. Only the fares published by the airline are eligible for mileage credit.

Kuwait Airways On-board Support

Kuwait Airlines offers assistance to passengers with health-related problems and allows special beds/incubators, oxygen devices and stretchers. Patients with vision disabilities are guided by a Seeing Eye dog. Passengers with mobility problems are provided with wheelchair assistance across all destinations. Passengers can request a special service while doing Kuwait Airways flight booking.

About Kuwait Airways Refund & Cancellation

Passengers can cancel tickets online through the airline’s website and apply for a refund under the ‘Manage My Booking’ tab. Tickets bought through a travel agent or sales office can be cancelled from where it is bought.
